Nekki, known for the Shadow Fight fighting game series and the Vector parkour runners, is looking for a game designer to work on the new console action project Spine.
Spine is a narrative-driven action game built on Unreal Engine 5, centered around cinematic gun-fu shootouts. It is a third-person beat ‘em up with a full set of PC gaming features – a deep storyline, unique setting, cutscenes, interesting enemies, memorable bosses, a progression system, and most importantly, exhilarating gunfights with a wide variety of firearms.
This project is a new ambitious challenge for the company – Nekki’s first title for PC and consoles, as well as the beginning of a new cyberpunk franchise.
We are looking for a game designer to develop various AI bots – from common enemies frequently encountered in the game to mini-bosses and unique rare opponents.
Responsibilities:
- Designing AI bot gameplay ("feature-owning" a bot) – from initial concept (in collaboration with other team members) to full implementation;
- Writing feature documentation, coordinating with other teams, and assigning tasks to animators, VFX artists, programmers, etc.;
- Tuning gameplay mechanics (animation frame data, timing, abilities, damage, indicators, etc.);
- Developing AI behavior and prototyping mechanics in UE5;
- Generating ideas to improve core game systems – combat system, AI, movement mechanics;
- Collaborating with combat system designers and boss designers on related features.
What we are looking for:
- 3+ years of experience as a game designer in core gameplay;
- Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine, experience with UE Blueprints, and familiarity with the Gameplay Ability System.
Would be a plus:
- Technical background (e.g., technical education, experience as a programmer or technical game designer);
- Experience designing bosses or other enemy AI in single-player games (non-commercial projects and prototypes considered);
- Experience in full-cycle game development;
- Experience working in large teams;
- Hands-on gaming experience with action genre games.
We offer:
-
A great team with a friendly and informal work environment (we share colleagues' interests, play video games together, and organize internal game jams).
-
Support for professional development, participation in specialized conferences and educational events.
-
Remote work from all over the world.
-
Working hours from 10 AM to 7 PM (GMT+3).
-
Competitive salary (depending on professional qualifications).
