Purpose of the Role
The Fundraising & Development Officer is responsible for securing and managing financial and in-kind resources to sustain and scale Teach for Uzbekistan’s mission. This includes cultivating partnerships with local businesses, corporates, and multinationals; engaging with government and international organisations; and managing grants, donor reports, and stakeholder relationships. The role requires a strategic, proactive, and persuasive relationship-builder with expertise in fundraising, proposal development, and partnership management. The Fundraising & Development Officer will ensure that TFU develops a diverse and sustainable funding portfolio while strengthening the organisation’s reputation as a trusted partner in education and social change.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fundraising & Business Engagement
- Identify, cultivate, and secure funding from local businesses, corporations, and multinational companies.
- Develop corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships aligned with TfU’s mission.
- Build long-term relationships with corporate leaders, foundations, and business associations.
- Grants & Proposal Development
- Research, write, and submit high-quality grant applications to local and international donors.
- Develop compelling proposals, concept notes, and investment cases backed by data and impact evidence.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders, including financial and narrative reports. Partnership Development
- Engage with government agencies, embassies, NGOs, and multilateral institutions to create new funding and collaboration opportunities.
- Manage relationships with existing donors and partners, ensuring high-quality communication and stewardship.
- Represent TFU at external events, donor meetings, and conferences.
2. Donor Stewardship & Reporting
- Design and implement a donor stewardship strategy to ensure high satisfaction and repeat engagement.
- Prepare donor updates, newsletters, presentations, and impact reports.
- Maintain donor databases, track commitments, and ensure compliance with grant agreements.
3. Strategic Development Support
- Support the CEO and Leadership Team in cultivating high-level partnerships.
- Contribute to long-term resource mobilisation strategy and diversification of income streams.
- Monitor global fundraising trends and donor priorities to position TFU strategically.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Development Studies, International Relations, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in fundraising, partnerships, or business development.
- Proven track record in grant writing, corporate fundraising, and partnership building.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in Uzbek and English (written and spoken).
Qualifications Preferred
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- 5+ years of professional experience, including in international or NGO fundraising.
- Existing strong networks with local businesses, corporates, or donor organisations in Uzbekistan.
- Experience working with donor compliance, financial reporting, and audits.
