Head of Marketing in an AI Startup
About Us
AI startup building an interactive adult entertainment product (AI roleplay). We're profitable, growing, and backed by technology that's already proven in the market.
-
$120K+ monthly recurring revenue
-
~10 person team across product, engineering, content, and marketing
-
International audience, primarily US and Europe
-
Goal: 5–10x revenue growth this year while maintaining positive unit economics
We're hiring a Head of Marketing to own our growth end-to-end — from acquisition to retention — and scale what's already working.
Why This Role Is Exciting
This isn't a "run the playbook" job. We have a profitable product, real users, and working channels — but we need someone who can think bigger and find the non-obvious paths to 10x growth. You'll have real equity, real autonomy, and a direct line to the founders.
The Role
You will lead all marketing efforts and be accountable for revenue growth. This includes:
-
Defining and executing marketing strategy focused on the highest-impact channels
-
Managing and growing the marketing team (currently 2 people: a media buyer and an affiliate manager)
-
Making data-driven decisions on where to invest — and where to cut
-
Finding creative, non-standard approaches to growth (not just "pour money into affiliates")
What You Must Have (non-negotiable)
These are our hard requirements — born from real experience:
- Fluency with numbers and unit economics. You can calculate LTV, ROI, and CAC from raw inputs. You think in spreadsheets and dashboards, not gut feelings. You can build a financial model for a marketing channel and defend it.
- Experience in adult/grey-niche marketing. You understand the unique constraints: platform policies, creative adaptation, the balance between compliant and effective. Pure white-hat or pure black-hat backgrounds don't fit — we operate in the middle.
- Proven resourcefulness and know-how. You don't just run standard playbooks — you find angles, negotiate deals, build unconventional funnels. When the obvious path doesn't work, you have a Plan B, C, and D. You've done this before and can show results.
- Active use of AI tools. You use AI in your daily work — for content, analysis, automation, ideation. This signals that you're continuously learning and thinking in the paradigm we build our product in.
What Would Make You a Great Fit (strong plus)
-
Experience scaling a digital product or startup from ~$100K to $1M+ MRR internationally
-
Management experience: hiring, building processes, holding a team accountable
-
Understanding of consumer psychology and what drives engagement in entertainment/adult products
-
Background in entrepreneurship, consulting, or mentoring — people who've had to sell with limited resources tend to thrive here
-
Breadth of experience across multiple marketing disciplines
What We Explicitly Don't Expect
We know one person can't be an expert in everything. You do NOT need to be:
-
A programmatic/RTB specialist or ad tech engineer
-
A SEO technician who hand-codes sitemaps
-
A brand strategist who builds positioning frameworks from scratch (founders handle this)
-
A social media content creator
For areas outside your expertise, we expect you to know enough to hire well and manage intelligently — not to do it all yourself.
Scope of Marketing Channels
The marketing strategy touches these areas. You should have hands-on experience in at least 2–3 and a strategic understanding of the rest:
-
Performance Marketing — Google, Meta, TikTok; campaign optimization with a focus on ROI
-
Affiliates & Partnerships — CPA/RevShare networks, direct deals
-
Email Marketing — segmentation, automation, lifecycle flows
-
SMM — social accounts for lead generation
-
SEO — organic traffic strategy (we have an external SEO specialist ready to plug in)
-
Creative & Growth — viral mechanics, referral programs, experimentation
-
Collaborations — influencer and partnership formats
-
PR — media relations, press coverage
What We Offer
-
Competitive base salary (€3K–5K/month depending on experience) — we pay at market rate for the CIS/Eastern Europe talent pool
-
Significant equity package — 1–3% stock options. This is a real co-ownership opportunity, not a token gesture. At our stage (post-Seed, profitable), this is rare and meaningful
-
Fully remote, flexible schedule
-
Full-time role
-
A lean team of strong specialists who genuinely care about the product
-
High-impact work with real autonomy — low bureaucracy, high speed
-
Direct collaboration with the CEO and CTO
How We'll Evaluate You
We don't just do standard interviews. Expect:
-
A conversation about your real experience: specific channels, specific numbers, specific outcomes
-
A practical exercise: given our product data, walk us through how you'd prioritize channels and allocate budget
-
Questions about unit economics: if we give you our metrics, can you calculate whether a channel is profitable?
-
Discussion of your management approach: how you build teams, handle underperformance, and drive accountability
If this sounds like you — apply now. We review every application personally.
