WISE WOLVES CORPORATION, a financial group of companies, is seeking an experienced Risk Manager for our Payment Institution business.

The Risk Manager will develop of risk measurement frameworks for operational, liquidity, fraud, IT/cyber, safeguarding, and settlement/credit risk.

What you will do:

  • Identify, assess, and monitor key risks specific to payment services: operational risk, credit/settlement risk, liquidity risk, fraud and transaction monitoring risk, IT/cybersecurity risk, and third-party/payment processor risk.[ML1]
  • Maintain and update the Risk Register and Risk Appetite Statement.
  • Oversee fraud prevention, transaction monitoring systems, chargeback management, and collaboration with the Compliance/MLRO on suspicious activity.
  • [ML2] Ensure compliance with PSD2, EBA Guidelines on outsourcing, PCI-DSS, and CBC directives on governance and internal controls for PIs/EMIs.
  • Contribute to safeguarding of client funds, liquidity monitoring, and reconciliation of payment flows.
  • Liaise with payment schemes (Visa, Mastercard, SEPA) and banking partners on risk-related matters.
  • Support preparation and testing of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Recovery Plan tailored to payment services interruptions.
  • Prepare regulatory reporting to the Central Bank of Cyprus (e.g., annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP)-equivalent if required, own funds calculations, quarterly/annual risk reports, and notifications on material risk changes).
  • Build a risk aware culture within the company and provide relevant training
  • [ML3] Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of measures taken to address any deficiencies in the risk management policies, procedures, arrangements, processes and mechanisms
  • Report to Senior Management on risk management issues indicating in particular whether appropriate remedial measures have been taken in the event of any deficiencies identified
  • Develop and maintain the institution’s Wind‑Down Plan, including wind‑down triggers, resource estimation, client fund return procedures, and coordination with CBC as per supervisory expectations.

What background will help you to execute the role:

  • University degree in Risk Management, Finance, Statistics, Business Studies or any other related field
  • From 3 years of risk management experience in the similar business is a must
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to understand broader business issues
  • Solid communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to apply the skills mentioned across a variety of business processes
  • High level of computer literacy, including Excel, is a must
  • Language proficiency in English is a must, Greek will be a plus
