Vacancy: Head of Investor Relations / IR Director (SEA, APAC, АСЕАН) / Fintech, PDL, BNPL, Neobank, POS, Payments, Microfinance - Malaysia, Kuala-Lumpur

A major international Fintech company is recruiting a Head of Investor Relations/Director of Investor Relations (SEA, APAC, ASEAN) - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Reports to CEO and Board of Directors

Key Responsibilities:
Capital Markets & Fundraising
- Lead and independently execute equity capital raising initiatives, including structuring and closing transactions related to changes in the company's share capital
- Drive market-based equity financing activities, including via specialized investment structures (e.g., 1982 structure or equivalent instruments relevant to Malaysian capital markets)
- Engage with shareholders, investment banks, legal advisors, and external consultants to support and execute capital-raising mandates
- Oversee cap table management, including restructuring transactions and maintaining accuracy of shareholder records
Equity Story & Investor Communications
- Develop and own the company's equity narrative — articulating the investment thesis, growth strategy, and competitive positioning in the Malaysian and broader SEA fintech landscape
- Prepare and present financial and business updates to existing and prospective investors, analysts, and key stakeholders
- Ensure transparency, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial disclosures, regulatory filings, and investor reports in compliance with Malaysian and regional requirements (including SC Malaysia and Bursa Malaysia standards where applicable)
Investor Relations Strategy
- Design and execute a comprehensive IR strategy aligned with the company's growth stage and capital markets objectives in SEA
- Build and maintain a high-quality investor base — targeting institutional investors, family offices, and strategic partners with relevant exposure to Malaysian and regional fintech
- Coordinate and manage investor meetings, roadshows, NDRs, and investor day presentations
- Enhance the company's profile and reputation within the Malaysian and regional investment community, including engagement with local and regional financial media
Long-Term Incentive Programs
- Design, structure, and implement Long-Term Incentive (LTI) programs to support talent retention and align management with shareholder interests
- Own the full lifecycle of the LTI framework — from design through regulatory compliance, documentation, and ongoing administration
Market Intelligence & Internal Advisory
- Monitor investor sentiment, market trends, and comparable fintech valuations across Malaysia and SEA, providing regular insights to senior management and the Board
- Serve as the primary internal resource on capital markets dynamics, helping management make informed decisions regarding timing, structure, and positioning of capital markets activities
- Track peer activity, regulatory developments (BNM, SC Malaysia), and macro factors affecting the investment landscape in the region
Requirements:
Experience
- 10+ years in investor relations, capital markets, investment banking, or corporate finance
- Proven track record of independently executing equity and/or debt capital raising transactions
- Experience structuring and managing bond issuances, credit facilities, and equity transactions
- Prior experience at a fintech, financial services company, stock exchange, or investment bank strongly preferred
- Experience working with institutional investors, PE funds, family offices, and sell-side analysts
Capital Markets & Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of equity capital markets, debt instruments, and deal structuring
- Hands-on experience with cap table management, LTI program design, or similar equity compensation frameworks
- Familiarity with ESG/sustainable finance frameworks and their application in capital markets
- Knowledge of post-trade operations, settlement/clearing processes is a plus
- Understanding of treasury operations: liquidity management, hedging, REPO, securities portfolio management
Regional & Regulatory Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Malaysian capital markets regulation (SC Malaysia, Bursa Malaysia, BNM) or demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to new regulatory environments
- Exposure to Asian capital markets (China, SEA, or CIS markets as an analogue) is advantageous
- Familiarity with AIFC, offshore structures, or cross-border financing mechanisms is a plus
IR Strategy & Communication
- Experience developing and executing a full-cycle IR strategy from scratch
- Strong ability to craft and articulate an equity story to diverse investor audiences
- Track record of building and managing an institutional investor base
- Excellent presentation and financial communication skills — both written and verbal
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA or postgraduate degree in Finance/Capital Markets preferred
Languages
- Fluent English (required for investor-facing communications)
- Malay or Mandarin is a strong advantage given the target market
