Ruby Backend Tech Lead (Кипр)

We are looking for a Ruby Backend Tech Lead to join our team in Limassol, Cyprus. This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining backend development, mentoring, architectural contribution, and ownership of engineering quality. You will help drive backend technical decisions and work closely with developers, QA engineers, and product teams to build scalable and reliable backend solutions.

• Go for some of our projects, so familiarity with Go or willingness to work with it would be a plus

Responsibilities

• Improve engineering practices, development processes, and overall developer experience by introducing and promoting effective technical approaches and best practices across projects

• Mentor engineers and support their technical and professional growth

• Participate in technical hiring and onboarding of backend engineers

• Contribute to architectural discussions and help define scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions

• Work closely with frontend, QA, and other stakeholders to enable efficient cross-functional delivery

• Provide technical input into task decomposition, taking into account backend, frontend, and QA dependencies

• Proactively monitor ongoing technical work, identify blockers, and support the team in resolving complex issues

• Lead code reviews and maintain strong engineering standards

• Contribute hands-on to complex or high-impact development tasks when needed

• Communicate technical plans, decisions, and updates to relevant stakeholders

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience in backend development with Ruby and related technologies

• Experience in a senior or technical leadership role, with ownership of technical decisions and engineering standards

• Solid understanding of software architecture, scalable backend systems, and API design

• Strong knowledge of SQL databases, data modeling, and database architecture

• Experience with code reviews, mentoring engineers, and supporting team growth

• Ability to evaluate technical solutions and make balanced architectural decisions

• Experience working in cross-functional teams

• Experience with CI/CD tools and modern development workflows, preferably GitLab

• Familiarity with monitoring tools and Kubernetes is a plus

• Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to complex technical issues

• Comfortable communicating in English
