The Context:

We're an early-stage AI/gamedev startup building infrastructure for on-device AI in gaming. We're closing our first round, our release is set for this summer, and the tech is solid. Now we need a Growth Engine to own the market.

This isn't a job for a corporate manager. We need a founding-level marketer who'll build the function from scratch using AI, data, and grit — someone who lives at the intersection of AI, gaming culture, and storytelling, and wants to build a brand from zero.

The Mission:

Distribution & PR. Find where devs and AI people actually hang out (X, Reddit, Discord, niche newsletters) and build real presence, not just posts. Lead our community, connect with influencers, get people talking about what we're building.

Performance & Ads. When we find a winning angle, you scale it. Run targeted campaigns (LinkedIn, Google, Meta) and track ROI. We're realists: paid traffic is part of the game from day one — you don't tickle the algorithms on vibes alone.

Own the Voice. We're dev-made, for devs. Our team is a mix of industry vets from AAA, indie, and esports. Our "build in public" story should feel like a real conversation, not a startup pitch deck.

AI-driven Marketing. We're lean and love automation. Build your own AI stack (agents, LLMs) for research, drafts, and analytics. You won't start from scratch — we'll hand you what we already run internally, including an agent system that parses SteamDB, VC deals, and AI-engineer job boards (it already replaced ~4 sales hires), plus an automated pipeline pushing ~400 short-form videos/day to YouTube & TikTok. Our philosophy: no attachment to any specific tool. The stack we used last week isn't the one we use today.

Content & Visuals. You're the creative lead for our social presence. You ideate and draft, our designer handles visuals, our tech team feeds you demos and ideas to keep things authentic.

How We Actually Work Together:

You set your own metrics. We're not handing you a KPI doc from above — we want someone who tells us what good looks like. Our rough picture: at 3 months, Tone of Voice locked in, first leads flowing, the seed of your AI pipeline running. At 12 months, a real brand inside the gamedev community. You figure out the numbers behind that. And if month 3 shows more experimentation than results, we'll look at the product and stage before we look at you.

Budget: you drive. A few thousand USD/month to start for experiments (traffic, tools, the stack). Approved monthly, spent however you see fit — channels, tools, short freelance gigs are your call.

A team of one — for now. Through our next round (end of 2026 / early 2027), we want you closing ~90% of your own work. Freelancers for point tasks are fine. After the next round, you start hiring your team.

Your voice carries weight. Horizontal сollective, no red tape, no corporate egos. We treat each other like partners, not "human resources."

Who We're Looking For:

Senior / lead level. You've owned decisions and outcomes. Not a junior, not a mid, not an operator who waits for tasks to land in a ticket.

AI optimist. We don't need deep engineering chops — we need obsession. Someone on top of the latest trends, excited to build their own pipelines, who treats LLMs as a superpower, not a way to skip writing. We'll teach you the ropes on agentic systems and vibe-coding. AI skeptics and folks who've never touched a model won't vibe here.

Gaming DNA. We grew up in-game and in-engine. We're not looking for someone who "did gaming once" — we want someone who knows the industry, the audience, and the culture because they're part of it.

Native-level English. Punchy, simple, conversational writing. No translator in the loop.

Hands-on. You'll write the posts, hang out in Discord, run the experiments yourself. If you're allergic to doing the work, we're not for you.

Smart with data. You don't need to live in spreadsheets, but you appreciate how conversion rates, CAC, and attribution lead to better decisions.

Hustler mindset. Proactive, autonomous, thrives in a startup. A key player, not an employee.

Location & Setup:

Our legal entity sits in Ghent, so a Flanders-based resident or citizen is a strong plus for local ecosystem access, grants, and tax benefits. But if you're elsewhere in Europe and you're the right person, we can engage you as a contractor via our US/Delaware entity. Location never stops us when the fit is right — just no Australia or South America, we'd like you reachable for events.

The Deal:

  • Role: Head of Growth

  • Comp: Competitive base + meaningful equity. We want you owning a piece of what you build.

  • Vibe: Horizontal, democratic, allergic to bureaucracy. If you need a traditional hierarchy or a boss to tell you what to do, you're in the wrong lobby.

P.S. We want this to be the last AI-sounding piece of content we at Tryll ever produce :)
